People, you and me can be quite lazy at times, we can not always be bothered to do the work we have to do. Some of the tasks and responsibilities seem challenging or just plain boring - that is just a fact.

But alot of the time these tasks are part of a bigger picture, these 'boring' tasks might get put off until tomorrow. Or we start thinking to ourselves that this task isn't due for another two weeks so we can just start next week, it will be fine, we have plenty of time, or we decide to just do it the night before so it doesn't get in the way of any other tasks.

This is called procrastination, even if you think you work well under pressure, procrastination is undeniably bad for you. An article published on informs us that 94% of people stated taht procrastination made them very unhappy - 94%!

You might not realise the anxiety that procrastination is causing you, holding off on starting an undesirable task can cause a lot of issues.

There are a few ways you can overcome procrastination.

First identify the root cause of your procrastination, there is one! Could it perhaps be that you are worried you won't execute the task perfectly and you are worried about failing, this is known as prevention-focused.


You simply can't muster the motivation to start something that you know will benefit you, this is known as promotion focused.

To snap out of procrastination, find a simple task that you can complete each day, this can be as simple as making your bed.

Keep this going, once you have completed your morning task, move on to other tasks. There is nothing that is more motivating than seeing your progress build up, motivation will become easier and taking on any tough tasks will become a breeze.
